There were several things about this years Grammys that really caught my attention. Maybe some other time I will go into more detail. But there was one particular performance that I thought said a lot about the realities of being a teen in today’s world. 16 year old Miley Cyrus and 19 year old Taylor swift sang Taylor's Song "Fifteen". Which is Taylor’s thoughts on life as a 15 year old. This song really captured some of the struggles, insecurities and naiveness that today’s teens deal with. This song really could open up some great conversation with your teen or a student in your youth group. Especially this portion of the chorus "Cause when you’re 15 and somebody tells you they love you you're gonna believe them." It seems like the definition of love in this generation is blurred. Sex, lust and infatuation also equal love in today’s vocabulary. It’s sad to watch so many teens give their heart away only to have it shattered. If you haven’t heard this song I think it’s worth a listen. Below is a video from YouTube that also has the lyrics with it. What other conversations could you start based off of this song????? Feel free to share your thoughts.
